Why Sew?

When I was growing up during the 80s and 90s my mom sewed clothes and household items out of necessity, not because she particularly enjoyed it. After decades of sewing all of her dresses and table cloths to save a few pennies, she happily ditched her sewing machine when cheap imports made thrifty crafting a thing of the past.

Today there is a new generation of novice seamstresses whose reasons for sewing are as varied as they are numbered. Some of us want more wholesome material goods, made from organic or locally produced fabrics. Some want to create unique items that they can't find among the mass-produced, store-bought products. Some people just want a creative challenge. Whatever your reason, happy sewing!
